Heavengames: Alright, first question: What kind of gamer are you?
Promagnum: I’ve been gaming since Quake and Doom for PC. I enjoy mostly realistic shooters, but also enjoy strategy games.
Heavengames: What first got you interested in WiC?
Promagnum: Well, honestly, it was mostly by accident. I tend to experiment with games via demos (like most gamers). I came across a beta form for WiC and signed up. Low and behold, about a month later I was playing for it.
Heavengames: Have you enjoyed it so far? You have obviously invested some effort into it. About how much do you play?
Promagnum: The first thing that grabbed my attention when I started playing it was it was unlike any other strategy game, in the sense that it didn’t have the common resource qualities that most tend to have. I enjoy it immensely so far, I would say I probably play, on a good day, three to four hours. This also depends on what types of games are going on. Are they team-based, or just everyone doing their own thing (which I tend to dislike)?
Heavengames: So you’re a big team player?
Promagnum: Definitely.
Heavengames: I enjoy hearing that. Do you think that most people try to play as a team, or rather on their own?
Promagnum: Well, it’s hard to put that into perspective, only because I haven’t played with everyone. But from my experience, yes, the majority of the people I have played with tend to do their own thing when, in fact, teamwork is what makes this game. As far as I see it, there is no other way to play WiC. When people don’t work together, more often than not it’s either Lord of the Flies, where everyone is struggling for control or total domination because the opposing team knows what to do. I think people tend to confuse this with ‘stack teams’ in the forums at least.
Heavengames: What do you think is required to get people to start working together?
Promagnum: Well, I would suggest keeping an open mind to what others have to say. If you know how experienced you are, and you know what class works well with another, give your input. Don’t be afraid to help out in the best way you can, whether it be donating your TA, or simply following you teammate.
Heavengames: Do you want to talk about your clan at all?
Promagnum: Sure, well, the clan I’m in for the beta/demo. The whole idea behind the clan is to simply play as a team, support each other, and have fun. Granted, we’re definitely not the best clan in WiC, nor do we wish to achieve that, but each player in the clan has the same understanding. One: It’s a game. Two: Teamwork always dominates. Three: Have fun. Cause if you’re not having fun, it’s time to do something else. It’s just a coincidence that having fun seems to be teamwork gameplay.
Heavengames: That’s an interesting outlook.
Promagnum: Hahaha, it’s just mine, I don’t really speak for everyone else in the clan… ‘cept maybe Yankeejim
Heavengames: Is there anything else that you’d like to talk about? Any advice you’d like to give?
Promagnum: Sure. This may sound like grief, but I hope that everyone, both forummers and non-forummers, would stop putting so much emphasis behind rank and personal stats. It creates a funnel of self-importance that will ultimately ruin the game and the attitudes of those who play it. Rank isn’t everything, stats mean nothing. All that really matters is that you’re enjoying yourself. And if enjoying yourself is by getting stats, you need to get a job or something :p
Heavengames: Nicely put.
Promagnum: Case in point, I’ve played a recruit that wiped the map with me, so just have fun and don’t be afraid to try something new (like helping others!). There you go!
Heavengames: Thanks for taking the time to take part in the interview. Bye!
