Activate your movie maker guide by creating a shortcut to wic.exe, then right-click on your shortcut, click on properties and enter “– console” to your target line. (You must use this shortcut to use the movie maker guide, it will not operate otherwise.)
Next, create a text document and name it “wicautoexec.txt” – put it in your local user ‘World in Conflict’ folder. (for example C:\Documents and Settings\John Smith\My Documents\World in Conflict\)
Insert the following lines into your text document:
The left column is what you should type in text file – the right is what you will get
Bind ctrl+z time.scale 0 – - – > hitting ctrl+z will pause replay
Bind ctrl+x time.scale 0.2 – - – > hitting ctrl+x will slow time in replay
Bind ctrl+c time.scale 1 – - – > hitting ctrl+c normal time in replay
Bind ctrl+v time.scale 5 – - – > hitting ctrl+v fast forwards time in replay
Camerafreedom 1 – - – > Allows camera to move higher
The movie included in this article goes through the process of making a basic, but nice looking movie. When you’re done recording it, you’ll want to compress it because the file size will be HUGE.
Download Virtual Dub. In Virtual Dub, open your movie. Click on Video -> Filters -> Add.. -> Resize -> Ok -> Set the width to 320 and height to 240 (or whatever, this size is the standard youtube format) and the filter mode to “Precise Bilinear” -> Press Ok -> Press Ok again. Your output window on the right is now much smaller. Click the Audio menu and select “No Audio”. Go to Video -> Compression -> Select the DivX codec. Hit Ok. Then go to File -> Save as AVI… -> Give it a name and put it somewhere you can find it -> Press Ok.
The compression will take awhile, so go get yourself a drink. Come back in five or ten minutes and your movie will be done!
